Callin all Champaign heads...

Talib Kweli will be coming through the Canopy Club on April 12th! I wish I could be there. General, I'll expect a full report live-blogged from backstage or the after party.

We'll see. Talib's recent stuff is struggling. So is Mos Def's. Apparently Mos' last album was a combination of new productions and stuff that was supposed to go on a rock/hip-hop album that he decided to scrap. After 5 years without an LP you'd think he'd put together a cohesive album. And Talib without Hi-Tek just doesn't work. He keeps using big name producers to make beats for him, but none of them match his unique lyrical style.

The sad reality is that you're right, General. When I saw Talib's name, I recalled the genius of Blackstar...

I didn't dig Mos' hybrid-style album he recently put out, so I wouldn't be into his rock/hip hop experiment either. Too bad he doesn't stick to what he knows.
