Today I accepted an offer of employment to do various nerdy things in Livermore, California. I think it will be a pretty great job. If you wish, join me in thanking God for his provision! Pretty crazy though.
*- the title refers to an old McDonald's commercial nobody seems to remember: open scene on young black male, walking in-step to some early 90's hip-hop beats. He looks quite pleased with himself as he walks through a rather run-down, urban neighborhood, presumably his own. He passes some other black youths sitting on their front steps. They call out to him:
"Hey, yo Calvin! Wadup wid dat jay oh bee?!"
He smiles knowingly but says nothing. The announcer talks about working at McDonald's or something, while showing various scenes of Calvin and others at McDonald's. Cut back to Calvin walking down the street. An old dude enters the frame (I think with like a broom or something) and he does a really cheezy head-shake-and-smile like he's thinking, "Hmm, that Calvin, what a guy!" or something similar. Calvin walks on, presumably into a brighter future, thanks to McDonald's. Maybe that's me, but my brighter future is thanks to Uncle Sam and his large need for simulating thermonuclear detonations, but you know, po-tay-to, po-tah-to.

CONGRATS, T.J.!! Praise the Lord for His faithfulness! Great link, by the way. I actually DO remember Calvin and hope that your computering brings as much joy and fulfillment to you as McDonald's brought to him.

Congratulations, your years of nerding have paid off. All those long hours in the lab, cha-ching! Hopefully, at your job, they'll force you to work until 3 am one night so you can write us bizarre stories.

On a side note, did anyone see the Chappelle's show spoof on these comercials? He basically did skits saying how this would really go down if Calvin walked around in the hood with his head held high after work. Abe, help me out with this...you can recite it better than I. It's great check it out if you have time.

I saw parts of that episode. I do recall his friends making fun of him, and his girlfriend cheating on him because he smells like french fries all the time.
