The A Stands for Awesome

I would put this blog in the Mildly Funny to Funny category:

Way to go Internet. I Heart You.

Update from Oneway
This exchange from an article written by Terence Jeffrey between Sen. Arlen Specter and Alito is entertaining. Specter loves abortion and is referring to Planned Parenthood vs. Casey, a Supreme Court case which upheld Roe vs. Wade:
But when Specter asked Alito whether he agreed that "Casey is a super-precedent or a super-stare decisis," Alito stopped him with a quip. "I personally would not get into categorizing precedents as super-precedents or super-duper-precedents," said Alito. "Any sort of categorization like that sort of reminds me of the size of the laundry detergent in the supermarket."

Also, Sen. Chuck Shumer gets some:

SCHUMER: Does the Constitution protect the right to free speech?
ALITO: Certainly it does. That's in the First Amendment.
SCHUMER: So why can't you answer the question of: Does the Constitution protect the right to an abortion the same way without talking about stare decisis, without talking about cases, et cetera?
ALITO: Because answering the question of whether the Constitution provides a right to free speech is simply responding to whether there is language in the First Amendment that says that the freedom of speech and freedom of the press can't be abridged. Asking about the issue of abortion has to do with the interpretation of certain provisions of the Constitution.

I accidentally tuned to C-SPAN this morning and caught some of Sen. Durbin's turn at Alito. I got sucked in for a while. What was amazing to me was how Alito continues to be badgered about his former affiliation with CAP. Durbin quoted Diane Weeks, Princeton alum, and she said she was "flabbergasted" and "totally stunned" that Alito included that affiliation as a qualification for his position in the Regan cabinet. Allegedly, this makes his position on equality pretty clear. To which Alito responds:

"Well, Diane Weeks was an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Jersey and somebody that I hired, and one of many women whom I hired when I was U.S. attorney. And I think that illustrates my attitude toward equality for women."

Boo-ya, Dick.

P.S.> How much worse would he be badgered if he hadn't included that affiliation on his resume?

P.P.S.> I'm not politically-savvy or party-loyal, but sometimes the inconsistencies from the left just overwhelm me.

I'd definitely rank it higher than mildly funny...I'm loving this site Teej.

I sent the link to my dad and he replied "Guess I can never run for anything as a conservative -- I once had a subscription to Time magazine."

pat,

nice.

to be relevant,

Boo-ya, indeed. I wish I could have watched the hearings. These senators are displaying that it doesn't take much by way of intellect or character to become a senator in many cases. Durbin, Kennedy, and Biden have been especially disastrous, judging from the transcripts.

>>I'm not politically-savvy or party-loyal, but sometimes the inconsistencies from the left just overwhelm me.<<

I really wish the Democrats could get their act together and challenge the Republicans with better ideas. But with Dean at the helm, and these other clowns manning the sails, they will keep heading towards futility.

Teresa,

Your dad sounds hilarious. The whole notion of quoting a magazine and then trying to link the magazine's words to a person who might of read them is a joke.
