The Hotness

check out this blog:

Stramon is friends with the author of this blog, and tipped me off. That statement goes further than any platitudes I can heap on.

This will help you at his site:

Vanderhost... huh. I don't know any Vanderhosts. I know some Van Der Laan's, and some Vandervelds, and some Vanderleists, and some Vandernaalds, but I haven't met a Vanderhost. I wonder what nationality that name is? We'll never know.
Oh, wait, it's Dutch.

Hah ha! Hitting that M-W link gave me the biggest laugh I've had so far this week. (And coming off a KU win, that's no small statement.)

Linked ya, btw.

I realized I should give Stramon some love for the free publicity: Great guy, that Scott. It's not often you meet a Linux "freak" who digs college hoops, real coffee and good lit. For those of you who knew him "back home," your loss is our gain.

"Vanderhorst" is Dutch, btw.

Thanks for clearing up the "stramon" mystery. I was wondering about that. Didn't know about the 'gay' blogging thing. No wonder he was so reluctant to leave comments...

On the other side of the nerd coin, stramon used to tell me that he had data-mining competitions. I'd ask him if I could come and watch, to which he responded by looking at me quizzically...

Seriously, I don't get "Stramon"...Scott's middle name is Jordan, so if anything it should be "Sjramon." Now I realize that's a little difficult to say, but in pursuit of accuracy, let's respect the fact that Lois didn't give Scotty a middle name that starts with "t." Lois is a lawyer, and she could very well sue for libel, so watch yourself.

There is a Sjramon shaped hole in my heart for sure.
