Fiber n' all that stuff

It's about 2 o'clock in the morning and I'm in the basement of a building on campus. A man in a black coat just ran through here at about 75% of his maximum speed, I estimate. I don't think he was running from anyone, since nobody followed him. Furthermore, if he had stolen something, would he not want to act in such a manner as to not attract attention to himself? Could he possibly be going somewhere where he was in danger of being late? If so, what kind of person makes an appointment for precisely 2 a.m.? There are a fair number of after-hours activities that one can attend on a college campus, but is one considered late when showing up at 2:15? I claim that whatever you've scheduled to do at 2 a.m. in your day can bloody well wait until 2:05 with negligible impact on your life. I will let this go, but I'm convinced that this man achieved no tangible benefit by running past me just now.

Another man down the hall is talking to his coworker by the vending machines. I can hear almost all of their conversation. He has said 'fiber n' all that stuff' three times already. I cannot tell if he is suffering from a deficiency or an excess of fiber in his diet at this moment. Perhaps he will speak a little louder later in the evening. Anyway, this is the_dude, reporting live from the Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science. Good night, and God bless.
