To My Internetters,
The Dude's flow has been interrupted by someone stealing his laptop. I have resorted to coming to work on my vacation day to post to you all. Pity me not, though, as the insurance company has partially reimbursed me, and I'm going to the beach for four days to forget my troubles. As oneway posted, yesterday was the anniversary of my birth. We kept to the aforementioned schedule. There was much awesomeness in the Bay.
As long as I am posting to you folks, I thought I would share something cool that happened at my work. After an eight year process, my co-worker, John, was granted American citizenship (at precisely 10:30 in the morning if you care to know).
The brief story I know of his journey has made me think about how much people will go through to make it to the United States, and how we ought to really reward those who go through the proper procedures to become citizens of our great republic.
Anyway, John sent a mass email to the folks in my building, thanking everyone for their help through the long process, including those who made sure that all his work processes lined up with all the (complicated) rules that exist so that people of our two countries can work together.
At the end of the eight years of bureaucracy, John received his citizenship paperwork and a new work ID, both of which he is very proud. His favorite document, however, came to him from his five year-old daughter and was given to him when he returned home yesterday evening. He attached that document with his email, so I thought I would share it with you all:
Happy Memorial Day.

A great story, man. America needs more immigrants like John.
Nice.
